Ever since I’ve been traveling, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard how “lucky” I am.
Every single time... I cringe and think biiissshhh wuuuhhhh. Ha!
Why? you ask...
Well let’s look up the definition of luck.
Luck: success or failure apparently brought by chance rather than through one's own actions.
I’m guilty. I’ve definitely called people lucky and used the word completely wrong. Here’s why I say that...
When you say how “lucky” I am, you are:
1. Basically discrediting the sacrifices I’ve made
I don’t personally call them sacrifices; I call it showing up in my life. Being clear about what I want, what’s stopping me, and creating a plan.
When I wanted to buy more shoes, eat out more, buy a new bad ass dress, go on caribbean vacations... I was investing my few coins into $2,000 programs teaching me how to build a business. Even if I had to get on the $550 month payment because I don’t believe in credit cards. (Another sacrifice - not racking up debt.)
I was researching, taking workshops, paying coaches, getting in communities with people that were doing what I wanted to do.
- I invested my time in what I wanted.
- Put my money where my mouth was.
- I WORKED ON ME from the INSIDE out.
2. You’re also assuming everything is just a walk in the park...
Chile please... I could write a lifetime movie. The good, bad, and ugly...
BUT... it’s all just information for me.
I take personal responsibility for everything that happens to me as an adult.
My best-friend says she’s never seen someone bounce back so quickly from things that would knock most folks flat on their face.
The difference is once again... it’s all just information for me.
When “bad” stuff happens to me, I explore.
- Hmmm... who was I BEING that I attracted that?
- What do I believe that I allowed that to happen?
- What did I miss?
- What’s the lesson?
- What information do I take from THIS?
So if I believed in this luck thing... I’d have a scape goat... bad luck. Which means taking responsibility wouldn’t be needed when things don’t go my way.
If you believe in good luck, you have to also believe in bad luck. And I refuse to give bad luck control of ANYTHING in my life.
3. WHAT I DO BELIEVE IN is... (cues music)
Let’s look at the definition of that...
1 arrangement in a straight line, or in correct or appropriate relative positions
2 a position of agreement or alliance
Ahhhh, that feels better.
Alignment is one of the best concepts anyone can grasp. It allows you to take the INFORMATION and assess your current position in any area of your life.
Now yes, sometimes we get synchronistic moments where God/The Universe/Source wants to wink at us... let us know we are on a favorable path. (...or gives us a break) And I love those moments. I even have a nickname for them -- #TOUCH moments.
And since taking personal responsibility for EVERYTHING, I'll have to admit they happen a lot more frequently.
synchronicity: the simultaneous occurrence of events that appear significantly related but have no discernible causal
But in contrast... sometimes life is trying to give us information we are NOT on course with our pure desires. God's trying to get our attention and let us know we aren’t even in the right neighborhood, need to make a u-turn, stop, and check the map for directions. A wakeup call.
It's not bad luck...
It’s all just information.
Yes, I just went on a rant about the word luck. It’s semantics... I know.
When we call each other lucky we don’t mean to consciously discredit each other...
The danger comes when we use the word to make ourselves feel better subconsciously because we see someone doing something we want to do -- but haven’t OR THINK WE CAN’T. That’s when if we are not careful we can... make LUCK a scape goat.
Alignment is so much better than luck.
It allows you to take information and become a deliberate creator in your own life. You become an investigator, looking for the clues and information to become more and more aligned with what you authentically want and more importantly...
WHO YOU AUTHENTICALLY ARE.
So I ask, what are you aligned with? Where are you misaligned with your desires?
You can look around your life and figure that out cause...
It’s all just INFORMATION.
